The wait for Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s highly anticipated film Spirit just got a little longer, but the stakes have never been higher. Starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, the project was previously eyeing a December 2026 release, but director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has officially pushed the date to October 29, 2027. The filmmaker took to social media to share the update with fans, accompanying the announcement with a striking new poster of the Baahubali star that has already sent the internet into a frenzy.
This shift in schedule is already fueling rumors of a gargantuan box office clash. Spirit is now slated to arrive during the Diwali 2027 window, the same period currently earmarked for Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus, Ramayana Part 2. Produced by Namit Malhotra, the mythological epic is set to feature a powerhouse cast including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. While the specific release date for Ramayana Part 2 is still under wraps, the industry is bracing for a potential festive showdown between two of the most massive cinematic universes in Indian cinema.
Spirit marks a significant milestone for Vanga, serving as his directorial follow-up to the record-breaking Animal, which raked in over Rs 900 crore worldwide. The collaboration between Vanga and Prabhas has been in the works since 2021, with principal photography officially kicking off in November 2025. The film’s journey to the screen has seen several adjustments, including previous tentative windows in March 2027 and December 2026, before settling on this new Diwali date. As excitement builds, fans are eager to see if these two heavyweights will indeed face off on the big screen or if the release calendar will see further adjustments as the date approaches.
