Kristen Stewart is officially heading back to the sets with her frequent collaborator and acclaimed French director Olivier Assayas. The actor has landed a pivotal role in the upcoming film Spiritual World, a project that marks yet another high-profile partnership between the two. The duo previously made waves with 2015’s Clouds of Sils Maria, which earned Stewart a Cesar Award, and the 2016 supernatural drama Personal Shopper, which secured Assayas the Best Director prize at Cannes.
Described as being in a similar vein to the eerie atmosphere of Personal Shopper but with a much steamier edge, the film will see Stewart portraying a haunted, clairvoyant young woman who finds herself plagued by mysterious premonitions. She won’t be the only star on screen, as the production has assembled an impressive international cast. Joining Stewart are Vicky Krieps, Riley Keough, Wagner Moura, Barbara Sukowa, and Niels Schneider.
Behind the scenes, Assayas is teaming up once again with Paris-based producer Olivier Delbosc. The pair recently worked together on the ambitious political thriller The Wizard of the Kremlin, which starred Jude Law as Vladimir Putin and Paul Dano as Vadim Baranov. With co-financing from the Franco-German network Arte France, the team is gearing up for a major production schedule. Cameras are set to roll this coming February, with filming locations spanning across France and Germany.
