Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan turned the internet into a giant collective ‘aww’ on Tuesday as she celebrated her niece Inaaya Naumi Kemmu’s birthday. Taking to Instagram, the actress shared a carousel of heartwarming photos featuring the birthday girl alongside Kareena’s sons, Taimur and Jeh. The post also included a precious snapshot of veteran actress Sharmila Tagore receiving sweet kisses from her grandchildren, Taimur and Inaaya. Kareena showered the little one with affection in her caption, calling her a “beautiful princess” and wishing her the “coolest dance party ever” while tagging proud parents Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu.
Beyond her family celebrations, Kareena is currently making waves for her intense performance in the investigative drama Daayra. Starring alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film delves into the complex world of juvenile crime and is inspired by true events. Kareena portrays the character of Ajooni, a police officer navigating the blurry lines between law and justice. The actress recently opened up about the role at a press event in Delhi, admitting that while she prefers to view life in black and white, her character exists in a morally ambiguous, grey space.
Kareena also highlighted how her portrayal of Ajooni challenges the typical cinematic tropes associated with female police officers. Moving away from the conventional “butch” or hyper-masculine depiction often seen on screen, she described Ajooni as calm, feminine, and stern. According to the star, portraying this balance was a difficult but rewarding challenge, as she had to move away from the traditional format of action-oriented, gun-toting cops to bring a more grounded, procedural approach to the screen.
