Neo-classical sitarist Rishab Rikhiram Sharma has unveiled his latest musical offering, a soul-stirring devotional track titled ‘Rama Rama’. Released this past Tuesday, the bhajan is a rhythmic tribute to the homecoming of Lord Ram. Known for his ability to blend traditional sounds with a modern, transcendent touch, Rishab brings a unique depth to this composition that resonates across Hindi, Bhojpuri, and Maithili-speaking communities. The track is built on an 8-beat Bhajani cycle and composed in the melodious Raga Mishra Khamaj, featuring a rich tapestry of instruments including the tabla, dholak, flute, shennai, and duff, all anchored by the divine resonance of his sitar.
The music video for ‘Rama Rama’ serves as a visual treat, filmed at the historic 260-year-old Kusum Sarovar situated on the Govardhan Parikrama route. By choosing this sacred location, the production bridges the divine connection between Lord Ram and Lord Krishna, allowing the land of Braj to stand as a timeless witness to the musical tribute. Rishab shared the track on his Instagram, inviting listeners to experience the euphoria of this divine return. The musician noted that for him, the sitar is more than just an instrument; it is a medium to channel peace and connect with the divine, symbolising the return of light, hope, and righteousness.
This release adds to Rishab’s impressive portfolio of critically acclaimed projects, which includes soulful renditions like ‘Mera Satguru Pyaara’ and ‘Shiv Kailash’. Beyond his studio work, the musician continues to make waves on the global stage. Following his recent performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall, where he debuted his ‘Sitar for Mental Health’ initiative, Rishab is now preparing to take his craft to the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York. With ‘Rama Rama’, he hopes to bring the same sense of healing and festive magic to his listeners that his team experienced while filming at the sacred sarovar.
