Global music icon Ed Sheeran has opened up about the heartwarming journey behind his latest musical venture in Bollywood. In a candid Instagram post, the singer shared that his collaboration for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film, King, was born out of a genuine friendship that has blossomed over the years. Ed recalled their first meeting, where the Bollywood superstar expressed a keen desire for the singer to mark his Bollywood debut by contributing a track to his next big screen project.
The creative spark turned into reality during Ed’s most recent visit to India. While visiting the superstar at his residence to request a cameo for the music video of his song Sapphire, which also features Arijit Singh, SRK introduced him to the renowned composer duo Sachin-Jigar. The connection was instantaneous, and Ed ended up writing and recording his verse for the track Tu Mil Jaaye that very same night. The singer expressed his deep admiration for the actor, noting that he truly loves the bond they have formed.
Tu Mil Jaaye, which was unveiled on SRK’s birthday, brings together an impressive lineup of talent. The song features vocals by Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, with English rap lyrics penned by Ed Sheeran and Hindi lyrics by Kumaar. The track offers fans a dreamy glimpse into the romantic chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, showcasing the duo enjoying picturesque getaways. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, the film is directed by Siddharth Anand and is set to hit cinemas worldwide on December 24, 2026.
