According to Dr. Shekhar Salkar of Manipal Hospital, the actor suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence on Thursday morning. Despite medical efforts, including 45 minutes of CPR, the legendary performer could not be revived. A medico-legal case has been filed, and a post-mortem examination is currently pending to confirm the details.
Following the news, tributes poured in from across Bollywood. Riteish Deshmukh, who shared the screen with Patekar in films like Bluffmaster! and the upcoming Housefull 5, expressed his grief on X. He described the loss as feeling like being hit by a truck, highlighting Patekar’s unparalleled range as an actor and his selfless work through his charitable endeavors. Deshmukh noted that while he cherished their shared screen time, his dream of working with the icon in a Marathi film would now remain unfulfilled.
Akshay Kumar also shared a heartfelt tribute, recalling the rare intensity and honesty that Patekar brought to every role.
