Veteran producer KC Bokadia has spilled the beans on the casting process behind the 2002 blockbuster Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. In a recent interaction, Bokadia shared that the legendary screenwriter Salim Khan was instrumental in bringing Salman Khan on board for the film. According to the producer, the bond between him and Salim Khan was so strong that Salman agreed to sign the project without even hearing the script or watching the original film.
Recalling the moment at Mehboob Studio, Bokadia shared that Salim Khan approached him with immense trust, asking him to share his project. After showing him the Tamil film Thotta Chinungi, which served as the source material for the remake, Salim Khan gave his immediate approval. Salman Khan, trusting his father’s judgment completely, signed the contract without a second thought or a story narration.
Bokadia also shed light on how he managed to secure Shah Rukh Khan for the film, despite having no prior relationship with the superstar at the time. He approached SRK while the actor was shooting at Filmistan. After being briefed on the project, Shah Rukh initially expressed hesitation, stating that the genre was not typically his style. However, he eventually agreed to sign on as a personal favor to the producer, marking the beginning of their professional association.
Directed by KS Adhiyaman, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam featured a stellar ensemble cast including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Madhuri Dixit, with a special cameo appearance by Aishwarya Rai. The film, which was a direct remake of the director’s own Tamil hit, went on to become a major commercial success upon its release in 2002, solidifying its place as a beloved multi-starrer in Bollywood history.
