The music industry has just witnessed a crossover of two distinct musical universes with the release of the new track Mahiya. Bringing together the high-energy urban groove of rapper Badshah and the ethereal, timeless vocals of Shreya Ghoshal, the song is being marketed with the evocative logline, ‘He is chaos, she is magic. This was never supposed to happen.’ The track, which is composed and penned by Badshah himself with music production by Hiten, layers a modern electronic pop soundscape with a soulful sarangi solo designed to pull at the heartstrings.
The music video features actress Avneet Kaur, who expressed her excitement about working with two icons she has admired for years. Choreographed by Piyush and Shazia, the video aims to capture the deep emotions and longing embedded in the lyrics. Both lead artists noted that while their chemistry was already evident during their time as judges on Indian Idol, stepping into the studio together to create this romantic anthem was a long-overdue milestone in their respective careers.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Badshah shared that the song balances love and celebration, offering fans a glimpse into his refreshing romantic avatar. Shreya Ghoshal echoed this sentiment, praising the rapper for his unique perspective and the way the track blends intense emotion with contemporary arrangements. As Mahiya hits streaming platforms, the team behind the project hopes it becomes a permanent fixture in the love stories of their listeners.
