Veteran actor Anupam Kher is embarking on a fresh cinematic chapter as he begins work on his 556th film, the Swedish-Belgian production titled Out of Fashion. Taking to social media to share his excitement, Kher reflected on the universal power of storytelling, noting that the experience has given him a new appreciation for the idea that cinema transcends linguistic barriers. He shared that being on a set where the language and culture are entirely new has reminded him that human emotions like love, fear, and hope are universal and require no translation.
Describing the project as a deeply personal and tender experience, Kher expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue exploring new worlds even after decades in the industry. He credited the film’s success to the vision of award-winning director Jens Jonsson and the collaborative efforts of producers Julia Gebauer and Siri Hjorton Wagner. The actor also gave a special shout-out to writer and co-star Sunil Munshi for bringing the team together, while acknowledging his talented co-stars Helena Bergström, Bahar Pars, and Krista Kosonen.
This international venture adds to Kher’s impressive global filmography, which already boasts acclaimed titles like Bend It Like Beckham, Lust, Caution, and the Oscar-nominated Silver Linings Playbook. While he balances his international commitments, the actor is also making waves back home in India. He has lent his voice to the iconic character Jatayu in the highly anticipated film Ramayana: Part 1, which features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead and is scheduled to hit theaters on November 5.
