Salman Khan has officially shut down the swirling rumors surrounding his upcoming war drama, ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace.’ During the trailer launch event held this Friday, the superstar addressed the claims that the film pushes an anti-China narrative or that he faced pressure from the government to rewrite the script. Labeling the speculation as “nonsense,” Salman clarified that the film is a heartfelt exploration of the lives of soldiers and the struggles faced by their families on both sides of the conflict. He emphasized that the project is not driven by any negative forces or political agendas.
This clarification comes on the heels of recent gossip regarding the film’s supposed run-in with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Earlier, Salman Khan Films took to Instagram to issue a formal statement, slamming reports of certification hurdles as “false” and “entirely baseless.” The production house clarified that the film has not even been submitted to the board yet, rendering any talk of objections or delays factually incorrect. The team remains firm that the project is still in its post-production phase and has not reached the certification stage.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salma Khan under the Salman Khan Films banner, ‘Maatrubhumi’ also features Chitrangada Singh in a pivotal role. The film, which was previously titled ‘Battle of Galwan,’ is based on the 2020 border clash between Indian and Chinese troops. While the movie was originally scheduled for an April release, it was subsequently postponed. As of now, the makers have yet to announce a new release date for the highly anticipated war drama.
