Following the buzz around its intense trailer, the makers of ‘Prahaar – The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam’ have dropped the film’s first track, ‘Mere Rehte’. Composed and sung by the soulful Vishal Mishra with evocative lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, the song serves as a musical tribute to the courage required to protect one’s nation. The music video is deeply moving, using powerful visuals of Mumbai to transport viewers back to the city’s most challenging moments, including the scars of the 26/11 terror attacks.
Rather than focusing on a soldier or a police officer, the song highlights the journey of a lawyer—Ujjwal Nikam—who chose to defend his country through the corridors of the justice system. The visuals capture the collective memory of the city, showing the weight of the past and the resilience that followed. It portrays the protagonist as a shield for the nation, emphasizing that one doesn’t always need a uniform to stand as a guardian against threats.
Opening up about the emotional resonance of the track, Vishal Mishra shared that his deep love for the country made the composition feel incredibly natural. He noted that the spirit of ‘Prahaar’ is built on duty and bravery, with the song reinforcing the message that as long as citizens stand tall, the nation remains protected. Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films, the movie features Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles. Directed by Avinash Arun, the film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 16, 2026.
