The highly anticipated teaser for the upcoming Prabhas-starrer Fauzi has found itself at the center of a heated controversy. Released on October 23 to coincide with the superstar’s 47th birthday, the clip—titled File No 25—has sparked outrage from Chandra Kumar Bose, the grandnephew of legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The objection stems from the film’s opening sequence set in 1942 Berlin, which depicts a fictionalized conversation between Netaji and Adolf Hitler before transitioning into the main narrative featuring Prabhas as a superspy battling the British Empire.
The backlash gained momentum after socio-political leader Suparno Satpathy took to X to voice his concerns regarding the creative liberties taken by director Hanu Raghavapudi. Satpathy argued that while the teaser is visually striking, blending sensitive historical events with pure fiction is a problematic approach. He directly appealed to the filmmaker and the production house, Mythri Movie Makers, urging them to retract the current teaser and release a revised version that respects historical integrity. He also expressed hope that Prabhas himself would take notice of the growing public sentiment.
Chandra Kumar Bose has since doubled down on these demands, reposting the criticism and stating clearly that mixing fiction with history is a crime. He has urged the team behind the project, including producers Naveen Yerneni, Y. Ravi Shankar, and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series Films, to ensure that the final product does not distort the legacy of national figures. As of now, the makers have not issued an official response to the controversy surrounding the film, which is currently slated for a theatrical release on March 19, 2027.
