The excitement surrounding Rajinikanth’s upcoming project, Dharman, has reached a fever pitch with the official announcement that Nayanthara has joined the cast. This collaboration marks a special reunion for the two stars, who are set to share the screen for the first time in five years since their last outing in the 2021 film Annaatthe. Production house Raaj Kamal Films International shared the news on X, welcoming the Lady Superstar with a post that read, “THE AURA IS DOUBLE… Welcoming the one and only Nayanthara to DHARMAN.”
This isn’t the first time the duo has teamed up to light up the big screen. Their history of collaborations includes iconic hits like Chandramukhi (2005), Kuselan (2008), Darbar (2020), and Annaatthe (2021). While the makers are keeping the plot details and the nature of Nayanthara’s character under wraps for now, her addition adds significant star power to an already impressive ensemble. The film, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and produced by Kamal Haasan, also features a stellar cast including Simran, Raashii Khanna, and Sreeleela. There is also heavy industry buzz that Ram Pothineni has been approached to play the primary antagonist, though an official word on that is still pending.
Production for the movie kicked off earlier this year, and the team has already wrapped up multiple schedules. While an official release date hasn’t been locked in, reports suggest the makers are eyeing a grand theatrical release during Pongal 2027. Behind the scenes, the film boasts a powerhouse technical crew, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music and Niketh Bommireddy handling the cinematography. With Pradeep E Ragav editing and the stunt duo Anbariv choreographing the action sequences, Dharman is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases in the coming years.
