The Mumbai Crime Branch has officially taken charge of the investigation into the alarming shooting incident involving Bollywood star Tiger Shroff. The attack occurred on the evening of Sunday, October 18, 2026, in the Juhu area as the actor was returning from a football match. While Tiger Shroff remains safe and unharmed, his driver, Firdous, sustained a gunshot wound to the hand. An auto-rickshaw driver identified as Chauhan was also injured in the crossfire, and both victims are currently receiving treatment at Nanavati Hospital where they are reported to be in stable condition.
According to preliminary reports, three unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants fired between three to ten rounds at the actor’s vehicle. A social media post attributed to gangsters Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, who are operating from abroad, has claimed responsibility for the attack on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The post contained threats against film industry figures associated with Salman Khan, though the Mumbai Police is still working to verify the authenticity of these claims. Given the unit’s history with high-profile cases linked to this gang, the Crime Branch has prioritized the probe.
Authorities have launched a massive manhunt, deploying 12 to 15 special teams to track down the suspects. The crime scene has been sealed for forensic analysis, with officials actively reviewing CCTV footage and recovering shell casings. Police have already made progress, detaining one suspect in Santacruz for interrogation and recovering the motorcycle allegedly used in the attack near Andheri Railway Station. Investigators are now probing whether the assailants conducted prior reconnaissance of the actor’s routine to plan the ambush.
The incident has drawn significant attention from the state government, with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis personally contacting Tiger Shroff to ensure his safety. The CM has directed the Mumbai Police Commissioner to expedite the investigation and take strict action. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has also condemned the violence, promising enhanced security for celebrities. Meanwhile, political figures such as NCP leader Supriya Sule and Zeeshan Siddiqui have raised concerns over the broader law and order situation, as investigators look for potential links between this attack and previous shootings at the residences of Salman Khan and Rohit Shetty.
