Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan shine in gold and black at Manish Malhotra Diwali party

Ace designer Manish Malhotra turned his Mumbai residence into the ultimate fashion runway on Thursday night as he hosted a star-studded Diwali bash for the B-town glitterati. Among the many power couples who graced the event, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan stole the spotlight with their effortless elegance. The duo, affectionately known by fans as ‘Saifeena,’ made a picture-perfect entrance, coordinating their outfits in sophisticated shades of gold and black. Kareena looked every bit the Bollywood diva in a shimmering gold sequin saree, while Saif kept his look classic and dapper in a sleek black kurta paired with white pyjamas.

While the couple looked radiant at the party, their recent appearance on Koffee With Karan 9 offered a much more sobering look into their lives. During the episode, the pair opened up about a terrifying incident from January 2025, when an intruder named Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad broke into their home. The confrontation turned violent, leaving Saif with stab wounds to his thoracic spine, requiring urgent medical care at Lilavati Hospital. Kareena became visibly emotional while recounting the chaos of that night, admitting she was so frantic to get help that she ran onto the street in her nightwear—a T-shirt and shorts—desperately trying to flag down a rickshaw while Saif was bleeding.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, Kareena shared a heartbreaking moment involving their son, Taimur. She recalled the panic inside the lift as a young Taimur witnessed the aftermath of the attack and innocently asked his father if he was going to die. Saif, reflecting on the brush with death, noted that he was fortunate the weapon used in the attack was ineffective, joking that it was the “worst knife in the history of knives.” Despite the trauma of that night, the couple appeared resilient and in good spirits as they stepped out to celebrate the festival of lights with their industry friends.
