Gurmeet Choudhary, who became a household name for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the 2008 television series Ramayan, is keeping a close eye on the upcoming big-screen adaptation. As Ranbir Kapoor gears up to step into the iconic role under the direction of Nitesh Tiwari, Gurmeet has expressed his full support, stating that he is confident the actor will do absolute justice to the character. Having watched the trailer, Gurmeet admitted he was thoroughly impressed by the grand scale and visual ambition of the project.
Reflecting on the weight of the role, Gurmeet shared his own memories of stepping into the part nearly two decades ago. He recalled the guidance of director Anand Sagar, who reminded him that he was responsible for introducing the epic to a new generation. Gurmeet also acknowledged the legacy of Arun Govil, whose legendary performance as Lord Ram served as a massive inspiration for him during his own tenure. Much like his predecessor, Gurmeet views the responsibility of portraying such a revered figure with deep respect and humility.
Looking toward the future, the actor expressed his excitement about seeing the Indian epic reach a global audience on such a massive canvas. He believes that the time is right for this story to be retold, noting that Ranbir Kapoor is a fantastic choice for the character. The upcoming film features a star-studded cast, including Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. Produced as a two-part epic by Prime Focus Studios, DNEG, and Monster Mind Creations, the film is set for a worldwide release beginning on November 5, 2026, across multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
